Dagenham & Redbridge boss Daryl McMahon admitted the club were 'gutted' to lose Josh Walker, after the striker joined Burton Albion on the last day of the January transfer window.
Walker moved to the League One club for an undisclosed fee, having netted 23 goals in 60 appearances for Daggers, and the manager said they could not stand in his way.
And McMahon told the club website: "Although we are gutted to lose a player of Josh's quality, we couldn't stand in the way of a great move for him in his career.
"The club has always had a proud history of picking up players and developing them and Josh is another one that falls into that bracket.
"Both my staff and myself have loved working with him as he is a fantastic character as well as a top talent and we wish him the best in the future and hope he continues to develop and flourish."
Walker began his career in the youth set-up at Tottenham before moving to Fulham and progressing to their U23s.
He then joined Hendon for the 2017-18 campaign and helped Barnet into the National League play-offs in 2019-20, before joining Daggers at the start of the 2021-22 season.
Burton boss Dino Maamria welcomed him to the Pirelli Stadium, telling the club website: "He is an exciting talent. We've done really well to get the deal done and he has had a lot of interest from Football League clubs.
"He's come to us as we believe we can offer him the right platform to develop and progress his career.
"He has pace, power and goals and is a very exciting signing for this football club."
Walker's final outing for Daggers came in their 2-0 home defeat to lowly Yeovil Town on Saturday and his departure from Victoria Road came on the day as the club dropping out of the play-off places.
He joins a Burton side fighting to avoid relegation, having claimed their first win of 2023 when beating Oxford United 2-0 at the weekend.
