Teenager one of 10 gymnasts named in national team for competition in Australia in April
East London Gymnastics Club member Georgia-Mae Fenton has been named in the England artistic gymnastics squad for the Commonwealth Games in April.
The 17-year-old is one of 10 gymnasts named in the England squad for the event, which takes place in the Australian City of Gold Coast.
Fenton is joined in the squad by the likes of double Olympic gold medallist Max Whitlock and Claudia Fragapane, who shot to fame at the 2014 Commonwealths.
The artistic gymnastics competition will take place at Coomera Indoor Sports Centre from April 5-9.
“We had some really strong competition for places on the England team,” said Team England gymnastics team leader Mike Weinstock.
“The team we have selected has a really good balance between youth and experience.
“I’m really excited to see what we can achieve on the Gold Coast in April.”
Fenton will hope she can return from her trip to Australia later this years with medals in her luggage.
