A couple have been left injured after an attack during a robbery outside a row of shops in Dagenham.

The couple, in their 60s, were approached by a group of males in Heathway Hill at 6.45pm yesterday (October 17).

The group reportedly asked them for money and cigarettes and attempted to take the woman’s bag.

Shortly after, the woman was threatened with a knife and the man was pushed to the ground.

They were both taken to hospital for treatment where their injuries were assessed as non life threatening.

No arrests have been made as police enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 6.45pm on Thursday, 17 October to reports of a robbery at Heathway, Dagenham.

“Officers attended. At the scene a couple, aged 60s, had been approached by a group of males who asked for money and cigarettes and attempted to take the woman’s bag.

“The female victim was threatened with a knife and the male victim was pushed to the ground and was attacked by the group.

“Both received hospital treatment for injuries that were not life threatening.

“At this early stage there has been no arrest. Enquiries are ongoing.
