A talk on careers in the aviation industry was given to engineering students at Barking and Dagenham College when recruitment reps from Ryanair joined them for the day looking for apprentices.

The airline’s engineering recruitment manager Mike Bryan and apprenticeship coordinator Nadine Houghton discussed careers open to students when they graduate.

“We’re always looking for people with a genuine interest in aircraft engineering who have skills with tools and the technical ability,” Nadine explained. “Working on cars or motorbikes are transferable skills that can be used in aircraft engineering.”

The talk was arranged to help the industry which is facing a severe shortage of skilled workers. It needs more engineers, the students were told.
