Tube services in east London are set for disruption over the weekend with part of the Elizabeth line closed on both days.
There will be no services on the Elizabeth line between Paddington and Stratford, or the branch to Abbey Wood throughout today and tomorrow (November 25 to 26).
The closure is due to planned maintenance taking place, including work to deliver mobile coverage on the line.
The work will ensure the entire line has high-speed mobile coverage by the end of Spring next year.
TfL says that the first stations are still on track to have 4G mobile coverage by the end of this year.
The Elizabeth line closures mean more passengers will be using other lines and it is expected that the Central, Jubilee and Piccadilly lines will be extremely busy.
Severe delays have already been reported on Central line this morning due to a shortage of trains in service.
There have also been minor delays on the District line after an earlier faulty train at Mile End.
Howard Smith, Elizabeth line Director, said: “These works were planned several months in advance and should help ensure that the Elizabeth line infrastructure operates reliably.”
He added: “I apologise for any impact on journeys over the weekend and would advise customers to check before they travel using TfL's travel tools, and plan in advance as trains and rail replacement buses may be busy.”
