Teenagers on a college sports course joined a development day at Tottenham Hotspur and are set to trial walking football.
Rafik Mustapha and Heidi Duffy, who are on the course at Barking and Dagenham College, took part in a sports careers event at Tottenham’s White Hart Lane stadium.
They met speakers from the FA National Youth Council to exchange ideas and share experiences.
“It was fantastic to see the students’ confidence grow,” college sports centre manager Emma Keegan said.
“They came back with lots of new ideas for us to try next term, like walking football to encourage the less active.”
Rafik, who is 18, and Heidi, 17, both from Dagenham, are English College Football Association “activator” ambassadors who help run football at the Rush Green campus to encourage fellow students to get involved in sport.
The event at White Hart Lane highlighted the importance of volunteering roles as first steps into sports careers.
It attracted College Football Association members from colleges up and down the country.
