Two east London men have been jailed for robbery and kidnap offences after they targeted lone women and a schoolgirl, leaving their victims with “psychological scars”.
Jordan Godfrey, of Clematis Close, Romford, and Brett Parker, of Blackborne Road, Dagenham, targeted their victims on November 6, 2018, in Swanley, Kent.
Godfrey, 30, and Parker, 28, approached two women and one teenage girl in quick succession under the pretence they were seeking directions while travelling in a stolen Ford Focus.
The men “offered a lift” to the first woman they approached at 8am, but she walked away.
Minutes later, the vehicle pulled up next to a teenage girl and the men asked her to get into the car to give directions.
When the girl refused, the men followed her and only drove away when she pretended to make a phone call.
At around 8.30am, the men targeted another woman, blocking a footpath in front of where she was walking.
Police said Parker grabbed the victim’s arm and tried to force her inside the car. The woman resisted and was able to escape.
Godfrey and Parker then drove to a nearby car park where they collided with a stationary vehicle.
The men saw two women trying to take photos on their phone of the damage and screamed at them to hand over their devices.
Police said Godfrey put his arm around the neck of one of the women and dragged her to the floor.
The men then fled the scene and police later recovered their stolen vehicle abandoned in Maidstone, Kent.
The men were later arrested and charged, before facing trial at Maidstone Crown Court.
Parker was found guilty of attempted robbery and attempted kidnap. On Monday (February 20) he was jailed for three years and nine months.
Godfrey was convicted of attempted robbery and sentenced to two and half years in prison.

Detective Constable Hayley Campbell, said: ‘The intentions of Godfrey and Parker in trying to encourage and force females into their car remain unclear.
“However, there can be no doubt that their actions will have caused panic and genuine fear to each and every person who they targeted and approached.
“The victims in this case will sadly bear the psychological scars of these incidents for a very long time, but I do hope they will also be very proud of the courage they have shown in helping us ensure both these men have now been convicted and rightly sentenced to prison.'
