POLICE are appealing for witnesses a year after a man was murdered in Barking.
Chinese national Xiong Zhang, 33, was brutally attacked on Thursday July 19, 2007, and was found by two police officers as they walked along a towpath running between River Roding and Hertford Road, Barking.
Detectives are offering a £20,000 reward for information leading to a conviction of person/s responsible for Mr Zhang's murder.
Officers believe that Mr Zhang was selling DVDs and may have had them stolen from him. They also have CCTV footage that shows Zhang being pursued by a black youth on a bicycle as he was walking along the towpath. A second string of footage shows the male cycling away from a white bag, which is believed to contain the DVDs.
Three arrests were made last year and one 18-year-old remains on bail in connection with the enquiry.
Anyone with information should call (020) 8345 1585 or Crimestoppers on (0800) 555 111.
