Leyton Orient defender Joe Widdowson wants to get a win against his former club Dagenham & Redbridge in their FA Cup fourth qualifying round clash.

The O’s travel away to Victoria Road tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm kick-off) and will be hoping to end their seven game winless run.

“It’s a big game for us and we want to go there and try to get the win,” the 28-year-old said.

“We haven’t won for a few games, so we’ll be going out there and try to get the win to help start us on a new run, and try getting some momentum and a good result that we can take back into the league the following week.”

The full-back also believes the cup game gives them a reprieve from the National League and that it could benefit them.

“I think it will be a good cup tie, its two local teams, it’s the FA Cup, and it’s a change from the league and something a bit different.

“I know Dagenham will be very competitive and want to win and we’ll be the same, so hopefully it’s a good game and we win.

“I’m sure we’ll take a lot of fans and Dagenham will definitely have extra fans on the day so it should be a good atmosphere.”

The former West Ham United product admits it will be a tough game and believes they’ll have to be wary of the Daggers attack.

“They’ve scored a lot of goals so far this season, so obviously they’ve got some good attacking players, so we’ll need to be wary of that.

“That’s really what we’ve got to look out for as they’re quite poignant at the top end of the pitch so we’ll have to be on our guard.

The defender pin pointed a few of his former team-mates as the Daggers main threats.

“Corey obviously is a big player for them, Fejiri Okenabirhie is another good attacker, Morgan Ferrier I know has been scoring a few, so top end of the pitch they have some good players.

“Also Andre Boucaud in midfield, he likes to get on it and get them playing.

“They’ve got good players and a good team, which I know well, it’s going to be a tough game for us but we’ve got to try go there and get a win.”

Widdowson is expected to move back into his preferred position of left-back after playing as a centre-back in their 2-2 draw against Barrow as James Brophy is eligible for cup tie.

“It was alright, I’ve not really played there much in my career, but I slotted in there and felt quite comfortable.

“It’s different you don’t get forward so much, but it’s more defending, which I enjoy so it was good.

“The gaffer wanted to try a new formation and he asked me to play there.

“I’m happy to play anywhere really, I’m not too fussed as long as I’m picked to play.”
